Leigh Balatgek, PA-C, grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania and attended college at the University of Pittsburgh. While there, Leigh’s personal interests in nutrition and fitness began to unfold. Leigh earned a Bachelor’s in Biology and went on to earn her Physician Assistant degree at Salus University in Philadelphia.
During Physician Assistant school, Leigh sought out “integrative” rotations that emphasized prevention, healthy habits and multimodal treatments as opposed to solely medicine and surgery. As an advocate for nutrition, these types of practices were more aligned with her own values; however, it became apparent that practices like this are scarce in the Northeast, so she began to look elsewhere. Leigh came to find that Austin has a huge integrative medical community and decided to make the move to Central Texas. She hoped she could find a medical career with a practice that combined medicine with nutrition and lifestyle education, so she joined NAU Urology Specialists in 2021.
In Leigh’s spare time, she enjoys exploring all that Austin has to offer, especially when it comes to being outdoors all year round. You can find her biking on the trail, doing yoga, showing off the city to her visiting family and friends, or drinking cappuccinos at Opa.
